Smriti Sandhya

The Smriti Sandhya series began to blossom in earnest by a handful of enthusiasts from early 1997. It was born out of our profound regard for the music of the fifties or even before, and seems to have become with time, a magnificent obsession with the torch bearers of this cultural organsiation -- BRMC.

Every year, we take great joy in breathing life into songs that we hummed and cherished as adolescents or in our youth. For many of us, even amongst the younger generation of listeners, the finest film music belongs to the melodious B&W era.

These evenings recreate the nostalgic mood of the B&W era - they thus become a treat, a feast of the finest compositions from the world of film music. It may not be an over statement to say that these evenings are more than musical concerts … they are a slice of history … to be experienced, savoured and taken back home. They reinvent the serenity of a bygone era … sepia tinted memories of our growing up … the agony of falling in love … the joys or grief we call life
